New Orleans Saints veteran safety Darren Sharper was activated Saturday and will be on the team's 53-man roster for Sunday's home game against the Cleveland Browns, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora confirmed the move Saturday, citing a league source.

Sharper, a five-time Pro Bowler, started the season on the team's reserve/physically unable to perform list while he recovered from offseason microfracture surgery on his left knee.

Sharper practiced with the team this week without any setbacks, and made it clear he was on the way back with a text message to the Times-Picayune on Saturday that read: "Glad to be back. WHODAT!"

The 34-year-old Sharper led the league with nine interceptions in 2009, returning three for touchdowns. He has played in 197 career games, logging 63 career interceptions for 11 touchdowns during stints with the Green Bay Packers, Minensota Vikings and Saints.
