The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Bradford is working primarily with the second and third team, while veteran A.J. Feeley is getting time with the starters and Keith Null is also part of the mix.
It’s all part of the learning experience for the future of the franchise.
“It’s been great. I’ve learned a lot, come a long way since Day One,” Bradford told the newspaper. “I feel a lot more comfortable in the huddle, on the field. I’ve put a lot of time in, and I think I’ve been able to grasp more, I’ve been able to work more than I would in a spring session back at Oklahoma.”
Coach Steve Spagnuolo says Bradford “seems to be catching on with the offense” and his “progress is good.”
Still, no one would say that Bradford is a finished product. He’s adjusting from primarily working from the shotgun in college to offensive coordinator’s Pat Shurmur‘s West Coast scheme.
“I still have a long way to go; I know that,” Bradford said. “But I think being around the vets, especially A.J. and Keith, guys who have been in this offense, (helps).”
Fan will clamor for Bradford in the preseason. If he shines, it will be interesting to see if Spagnuolo sticks to his plan of brining along the rookie signal-caller slowly or feels the pressure to get him on the field.
