RB McClain signs tender has 0 comments

The Ravens finally got the last signature from their stable of restricted free agents, as fullback Le’Ron McClain inked his tender on Wednesday.

McClain, who was designated with the first-round tender worth $2.396 million, was looking for a long-term contract, but signed his deal before the NFL’s June 15 deadline.

At that time, the Ravens could lower their offer to 10 percent of his 2009 salary.

The two-time Pro Bowler has been a regular at the Ravens’ offseason camps and previously expressed his desire to remain in Baltimore.

“I love Baltimore,” McClain said. “I want to be in Baltimore. I made this my home. I got an incredible running back in Ray Rice and a great offensive line. I don’t want to be anywhere else.”

McClain recently made headlines with his “McClain4RB” campaign on Twitter, where he is angling for more carries.

In 2008, McClain led the Ravens with 902 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, but as he settled into more of a traditional fullback role last year, those numbers dropped to 180 yards and two scores. Both years, however, McClain received Pro Bowl honors.

At 6-feet, 260 pounds, McClain is a brutal bulldozer known as one of the best at his position across the league.

He maintains that he is in better shape than usual for this time of year.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “This is probably the best I’ve felt in the offseason. I’m just looking to expand my role, get some carries and show them I still want to do that. McClain for running back!”
