Quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned to practice with the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday.

Rodgers was a full participant in his first practice with the team since he sustained a concussion -- his second this season -- during the Packers' Dec. 12 loss at Detroit. Rodgers sat out Sunday night's loss at New England.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he expects Rodgers to start Sunday against the New York Giants at Lambeau Field.

Rodgers took the majority of snaps during the portion of practice open to reporters Wednesday morning. Backups Matt Flynn and Graham Harrell also took a few snaps.

NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported Tuesday night, citing a league source, that Rodgers was cleared to return to practice.

Rodgers' return could be a boost for the Packers (8-6) entering Sunday's game against the Giants. Although the rival Chicago Bears have clinched the NFC North title, the Packers remain alive for a wild-card spot.

"It will definitely be a playoff type game," McCarthy said Wednesday.

Rodgers had started 45 consecutive games before giving way to Flynn, who completed 24 of 37 passes against the Patriots for 251 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. It was Flynn's first career start in three NFL seasons.
