The lockout has done strange things to the league rumor mill. Remember Darrelle Revis calling Randy Moss a slouch? Well, those two soon could have the chance to settle it in practice. At least, those are the whispers out there, and listening to Jets owner Woody Johnson talk, it's not hard to see some reality there.

Holmes should be Jets' top priority

Johnson said the Jets have worked on "scenario development" the last few weeks, preparing for a potentially frantic free-agency period, whenever the 2011 league year begins. It'll be crazy enough for the Jets -- with Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Antonio Cromartie headlining their list of free agents -- to the point where this kind of business is being considered when deciding whether or not to bring camp home to New Jersey, from SUNY-Cortland, since it'll be tougher to handle all of it from a remote location.

And if you consider "scenario development," Moss makes complete sense. The Jets fully expect to keep Holmes, but Edwards could be a different story, and Brad Smith also is a free agent. So having Moss as a backup plan, or even to pit against Edwards here, might not be a bad play.
