The former Cowboys receiver was asked on the NFL Network for his Super Bowl pick. He didn't hold back in dogging his old team -- and Williams, in particular.
"I won't take Dallas until Dallas has whatever it needs to stop playing 10 vs. 11. And with Roy Williams on the field, they're playing 10 vs. 11," Irvin said (as relayed by the Dallas Morning News).
Irvin said that he would pick the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl if they had Dez Bryant in the starting lineup instead of Williams.
Williams has made it quite clear he's not going to live up to the expectations the Cowboys had for him when they sent Detroit first-, third- and sixth-round picks. But it's hard to believe he's as bad as Irvin is trying to make him out to be. After all, Williams did catch seven touchdown passes last season. And with the development of Miles Austin, Williams is just a No. 2 receiver at best (something that Austin's new six-year contract extension makes clear). But whether he's a No. 2 or a No. 3 receiver, Williams still has enough talent to contribute to the Cowboys' offense, whether Irvin believes it or not.
Clearly, Williams doesn't have that much of a future with the Cowboys (that's why the Cowboys drafted Bryant), but he does have some present value.

Although I am a true and dedicated Cowboys fan ("...von Cowboys zu Cowboys"): I agree, Mr G.! Romo probably on of the best QBs in reg season, but total bust in playoffs so far.
