The San Francisco 49ers are expected to meet Wednesday with Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh at an undisclosed location away from the team's training facility, league sources told ESPN NFL Insiders Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter.

Harbaugh just finished his season with the Cardinal at 12-1, capped off by an Orange Bowl victory on Monday night.

Trent Baalke was promoted to general manager of the 49ers on Tuesday night. His first order of business was to find a new head coach to replace Mike Singletary, who was fired during the season.

The 49ers also have asked for and received permission to interview New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.

A report Monday said that the Miami Dolphins are also interested in Harbaugh, who has also been linked to the Denver Broncos' open coaching position. Miami currently has Tony Sparano as its head coach.

Harbaugh was also rumored to be a candidate at Michigan, which fired coach Rich Rodriguez on Wednesday.
