Jets LB Pace out 6 weeks with broken right foot has 2 comments

Calvin Pace will miss the Jets' first six games of the season with a broken right foot, according to reports that emerged on Sunday.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News cites a source that says Pace, who injured his foot during last week's preseason game against the Redskins, will be out until Week 7.

That's rough news for the Jets, who, as we mentioned yesterday , expected Pace to be out "a few weeks" -- it was conceivable that Jason Taylor could handle "100 percent" of the snaps (as they'll need him to) for a couple of weeks, but six is a lot to ask.

Vernon Gholston is also considered a possible outside linebacking fill-in, and there remains a strong chance that Adalius Thomas could be mentioned as a replacement for the injured Pace. We discussed this possibility on Saturday , but things are weird between Thomas and the Jets -- expect any awkwardness to get patched up pretty quick with a sudden need for an outside linebacker.
