Foxborough, MA --- Percy Harvin has become the most important player in the Vikings' feeble passing attack, and it is taking a toll on the health of the playmaking receiver/kick returner.

After overcoming migraine issues and a banged-up hip this season, Harvin now has a serious ankle injury he will have examined today at Winter Park.

Harvin twisted his left ankle in the turf at Gillette Stadium in the first quarter and had to be helped off the field by the medical staff. He had it taped up and was able to return, ultimately catching six passes for 104 yards.

But Harvin was limping severely in the locker room after the game and expects to be even sorer today.

"It's hurting pretty bad, and it probably was adrenaline that got me through," he said. "I couldn't do much, but I was able to fight through it. Go and see the trainers (today) and we'll know then."

Harvin leads the receiving corps with 31 receptions for 393 yards and three touchdowns.

With the Patriots double-teaming deep threat Randy Moss throughout the game, coach Brad Childress planned to get Harvin the ball more underneath and out of the backfield.

"We have three or four ideas, in-the-backfield, out-of-the-backfield ideas," Childress said. "You know, we thought it was best to move it with him in the slot, how they were playing him and the coverage we were getting."
