ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills signed running back Chad Simpson, who spent the past two seasons with Indianapolis.

Simpson on Tuesday became the latest addition to a crowded backfield that includes rookie first-round draft pick C.J. Spiller, and Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson, who split the starting duties last season.

Buffalo also has running backs Walter Mendenhall and Joique Bell on its depth chart.

Simpson was used mostly returning kickoffs with the Colts. He also added 30 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown before being released by Indianapolis last month.

To make room for Simpson, Buffalo released defensive tackle Marlon Favorite, who was signed in March.
